October's Trivia Question Winner:  Gary Gevaert

October's Trivia Question: Where did the Z28 name come from?

Answer:  The name is based upon the Regular Production Option Codes - RPO Code: Z28 (PERFORMANCE PACKAGE,SPECIAL).

You can find that GM "names" many vehicles with designations using the RPO codes such as the Z06 Corvette or the Z71 truck package.

Food for thought... Shipping Methods

We often see many orders come through our online system where people could have saved money if they chose a different shipping option.  We thought we would pass on some information to you, our customers, to help you become more informed consumers regarding shipping.

We, at RMS, try not to "make" money on shipping.  However, there are many other companies out there who do!  Here are some tips to look for if given the choice of shipping options.

1.  If the item you are purchasing is an item under 1 lb. and small, your least expensive option will most likely be USPS Priority Mail.  This option should be no more that $5.50 depending on how far you are from the shippers location.  Of course, pricing goes up with added weight.

2.  If the item you are purchasing is an item of some weight, such as rotors and starter motors, then UPS will usually be less expensive than USPS Priority Mail.

3. If you are shipping international, then your best option usually is USPS Priority Mail International or if you really need it quickly, Express Mail International.

There are pro's and con's for each carrier:

USPS Priority Mail's tracking information is lackluster, at best.  You will sometimes get your package well before the item is even tracked online.  However, the mail does seem to get there within about 3 shipping days from shipment and light/small items are very  inexpensive to ship.

UPS does have a much better tracking system.  Packages do arrive on the schedule date most of the time.  However, their cost is higher than USPS  for smaller/lighter packages and costs associated with Overnight Shipping and even 2nd Day Air, are expensive.

Some of you may have noticed that we no longer offer FedEx as a shipping option.  This is due to way too many shipping/delivery errors on their part and their general vendor service has fallen deaf over the years.   If you would prefer FedEx for your shipment, give us a call and we will accommodate your wish.

If you have a question as to which shipping method would be best for your order, select the  shipping company options from our shipping estimator in your shopping cart after selecting your state and imputing your ZIP/Postal Code (see picture below).  If you have additional questions, give us a call and let us help you.
